IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: 10 REASONS TO UPGRADE TO VECTORWORKS 2019

Last year, we launched the latest version of Vectorworks, which offers an abundance of both new and updated features. As a reminder of everything you can find in Vectorworks 2019, here are our 10 reasons to upgrade in the new year.
CORE IMPROVEMENTS
We’ll start off by highlighting some overall upgrades. Take a look at a few of the core improvements we’ve made in our newest version.
Reason #1: Class and Layer Filtering
By using search keywords, you can instantly find the classes and layers you’re looking for. Or, you have the option to use filters to display classes and layers based upon specific properties. Either way, this capability lends itself to a quicker and more efficient workflow.
Reason #2: Clip Cube Viewport
You asked for it. Now, you can use the clip cube on sheet layer viewports. With 2019, you can use clip cubes in any rendered view or style, giving you the capability to create remarkable sections, elevations, and presentation drawings.
Reason #3: Image Effects
Bye, bye Photoshop! Now, mainstream image editing can be done right inside of Vectorworks. The new image effects feature works with viewports and imported images used to create your designs.

WHAT’S NEW FOR ARCHITECTURE?
Reason #4: Data Tagging
Data tagging gives you a consistent method for tagging and displaying data about objects and symbols in your model, saving you time and simplifying the process of tagging objects. You can select the type of tag you want based on visual attributes and the type of object you’re tagging. Then, you can select a mode and tag a single object or multiple objects. Don’t worry Landmark users—the Data Tag tool is available for you as well! Reason #5: 2D Components for Hybrid Objects This new tool is all about gaining greater efficiency in a 3D workflow. With this capability, you can create fully customized 2D drawings from your BIM models. Now, you have complete control over the level of detail that your symbols and plug-in objects display.

WHAT’S NEW FOR LANDSCAPE?
Reason #6: Site Model Surface Sculpting
Site model sculpting offers you a more flexible and intuitive way to modify terrain, a feature that’s particularly desirable for academic projects, competition projects, and the early conceptual design phases of real-world projects. With Vectorworks 2019, you can easily sculpt the site for your project using a variety of Vectorworks direct modeling features, such as reshape and push/pull.
Reason #7: 3D Hardscape Components
Continuing on with our efforts to provide you with a more efficient user experience, the hardscape tool has been enhanced to act more like a layered slab object. Improvements in the hardscape object make it possible to define hardscape components and to slope hardscapes for drainage when used in conjunction with the Slab Drainage tool. Now you can specify paving material layers and create accurate material take-offs more easily than ever. Hardscape
WHAT’S NEW FOR ENTERTAINMENT?
Reason #8: General Device Type Format (GDTF) and My Virtual Rig (MVR)
General Device Type Format, or GDTF, was conceived through a partnership with MA Lighting and Robe lighting in response to a problem that’s plagued the industry for years: No unified standard that connects planning-visualization and control of the intelligent hardware needed for a performance or event. To solve this problem, we’ve introduced GDTF, an easily supportable open format that bi-directionally connects the workflow for everyone. As part of the GDTF initiative, we’ve also developed My Virtual Rig. MVR is an open-standards container that packages the GDTF files for all of the lighting fixtures in your design. With MVR, you can now easily conduct your previz with Vision and communicate data (such as your patch) directly from your Vectorworks design to your console. MVR
Reason #9: Instrument Numbering Command
Save time with new modes in the Lighting Instrument tool that allows you to specify your fixtures and auto-numbering preference upfront with Vectorworks Spotlight. Say goodbye to going back to fixture settings after it is inserted to define its mode and number.
Reason #10: Our Commitment to Quality
Last, but certainly not least, we are determined to continually improve the quality of Vectorworks. Between Vectorworks 2018 and Vectorworks 2019, we’ve reduced the time it takes to copy and paste, open files, start up, select objects, and more. In the past year, we’ve also drastically improved the stability of Vectorworks. This means less downtime and fewer technical issues, so you can spend more time designing and less time worrying about the technology’s performance.
